You are a part of the only known web of intelligent life in the unimaginable vastness of the emptiness of space.
Earth is the only planet known to science on which intelligent life exists. It is the only place we know of in the entire Universe where life has overcome entropy and whose unique conditions are attuned to the flourishing of life.
Many people are completely certain that there are other planets with intelligent life forms and evolved civilisations out there. They base this certainty on the scale of probability but as yet without other evidence. However, as comforting as this thought may be, humans may never co-exist with aliens simply because of the very same scale of space / time required for this probability to notionally be possible. So the fiction that is Science-fiction is really a mere distraction from our obligations of stewardship to life on this water planet that we call Earth, that is our only home and which instead of honouring with awe, we take for granted.
Whatever our beliefs, it is perfectly rational to see the uniqueness of our rare Earth as meaningful – both scientifically and religiously -and to live our lives on the basis that we have an obligation to protect this rarest oasis of life and to live in a way that presumes humanity has a cosmic purpose.
In this context we surely need to co-create a regenerative narrative for a New Harmony based on Non-Toxic Moral Imagination, Compassionate Action, Personal Responsibility, Real Value & Principled Leadership
